My experience at UESTC has been very positive overall. it is a strong university for AI and computer science (3rd in the U.S. News & World Report Global Universities rankings for AI), with good professors (it depends tho), Labs, and opportunities for students who are motivated to do research. The academic research environment can be demanding, but it encourages independent learning and research and gives students access to valuable research experience (it depends). campus life is comfortable, and chengdu is an enjoyable and relatively affordable city to live in.

as a grad student there is 2 campuses here, 1 old one new and looks great. the intl students dorm is in the old campus and it is so so, i rent outside. there is research opportunities. but the teaching quality as in the rest of china it is not great. teachers dont speak english well and there is not a big list of courses to choose from, i had to choose Cysec courses to finish my credits as an AI major. this is horrendous. xi an has great food and good weather.
